After 34 years, PANLAR returns to Mexico, a key country for rheumatology in Latin America. Mexico City, as the host city for PANLAR 2025, positions itself as a convergence point for over 1,500 rheumatologists, researchers, and experts across the continent. This return not only marks a new milestone in PANLAR’s history but also presents a unique opportunity to strengthen bonds of fraternity, cooperation, and scientific exchange among professionals in the region. PANLAR 2025 will be much more than a scientific gathering: it will be an experience of belonging, growth, and shared vision.

Strengthening the Social Commitment

For Dr. Antonio Cachafeiro, president of PANLAR, this Congress represents a unique opportunity to continue reducing the gaps faced by patients and healthcare professionals in Latin America, from early diagnosis to access to treatments and training. PANLAR 2025 is an academic meeting and a reflection of a strategic vision in progress.

“Our current focus is more social. We want to reduce barriers in diagnosis, training, and access to medications. This congress will showcase that, with active participation from youth, patients, and local stakeholders,” says Dr. Cachafeiro. His leadership highlights the importance of consolidating PANLAR as a solid, innovative, and globally connected organization that not only educates but also acts as an agent of change in the region.

A Cutting-Edge Congress

The academic program of PANLAR 2025 will revolve around innovation, clinical updates, and the challenges of the immediate future. Dr. Mario Cardiel, president of the Congress, emphasizes that the content has been structured to provide a useful educational experience for all professional profiles. “We will have topics like ‘What you should know about…’, expert sessions, and plenty of space for interaction,” says Cardiel, who stresses the importance of attendees taking home practical tools for their daily practice.

Among the most notable innovations is the launch of RHIA, PANLAR’s artificial intelligence tool, which promises to transform diagnosis and decision-making in rheumatology. Additionally, the Congress will feature revamped spaces such as the Pan American Pavilion, a nursing room, and synergies with renowned international societies like EULAR, ACR, GRAPPA, and SPARTAN.

Youth and Patients at the Heart of the Event

PANLAR 2025 stands out for being an inclusive Congress, where not only rheumatology professionals are welcomed, but also patients, who will play a central role. Dr. Antonio Cachafeiro underscores that this event will be a space to address crucial issues such as early diagnosis, access to treatments, and the training of new professionals in the region. “PANLAR 2025 will be the ideal forum to foster cooperation in essential areas like continuous education, research, and the development of public policies that improve patient care in Latin America,” he adds. The human component remains the central axis of the Congress. “Local youth have made a difference with their enthusiasm. We want this to be their first PANLAR, but not their last,” says Dr. Cachafeiro.

The Invitation from Mexico: An Opportunity for Collaboration and Growth

Dr. César Alejandro Arce Salinas, president of the Mexican College of Rheumatology, highlights that this event represents “a tremendous challenge for collaboration, integration, and participation.” It is an excellent opportunity for Mexico not only to host international experts but also to share its experience and knowledge, particularly in the training of new rheumatologists. Furthermore, in the context of the transformation of the public health system in Mexico, the Congress will serve as a platform to explore models of care and centers of excellence that address regional challenges. Dr. Azalea Rojas, member of PANLAR Mexico’s Local Committee, emphasizes that this Congress will contribute to strengthening a stronger and more united rheumatological community in the region.

Science, Community, and Progress for Latin America

PANLAR 2025 will not only be a platform for knowledge but also an opportunity to build collaborative projects that will positively impact all of Latin America. For those still considering participation, PANLAR’s leaders have a clear message: this congress is a space for transformation and learning, a platform for knowledge, community, and solving doubts.

"You will find basic science, clinical knowledge, epidemiology, and artificial intelligence. And above all, you will find the people with whom you can grow and resolve your doubts,” concludes Dr. Mario Cardiel, reaffirming that PANLAR 2025 will be an event to remember and a crucial step towards improving rheumatology in Latin America with a global outlook.
